ICT companies are beginning to hatch on the continent
Mostly African portals or directories contain information from a wide variety of geography in tourism through culture, economics and art. But sometimes, some sites are real success stories, like "Africa Synergy. This is the only network of "angel" which includes 30 contractors and has already invested in 16 projects since 2001 in sub-Saharan Africa. This site currently represents a lot of investors in an informal way to finance projects in Africa or related to Africa in the form of equity participation. This site also provides lots of information about business meetings called "business speed dating" where one connects on a physical and contractors rely on their capital to finance projects in sub-Saharan Africa .
Thus, the web presence is stronger in some areas, particularly those involving tourism, local investment, fashion, education or culture. These sites are often developed and designed to develop a presence on the African market and internationally.
Currently there are about 140 Internet mailing lists and Usenet newsgroups that discuss issues related to SSA. These lists and newsgroups are hosted almost outside the continent except some in South Africa, North Africa and Kenya. There is also a list for almost every African country and others on more general topics ranging from African cinema to post-colonialism.
