Francis Tembiwa : Journey of a polytechnician
Engineer Mechanical Engineering is leading the new company distribution of cooking gas in Cameroon
Tembiwa Francis, a design engineer in mechanical engineering, 1994 class of the Ecole Nationale Superieure Polytechnique Yaounde, is the first youth who do not lack ambition. From his first job at MCTS, the first national operator for manufacturing gas cylinders household, he was already thinking about a gas marketing company: "My dream Afrigaz arose there," he says TODAY 'hui. But it might be said that change only in the tanker industry.
Because here he is, after one year spent with MCTS, which integrates the ranks of the world's largest oil service Schlumberger. He first officiated in the Cameroonian branch, climbing the ranks quickly: in turn responsible for maintenance and Regional Director of Quality, Safety and Environment with jurisdiction over central Africa and western least Nigeria.
Features that are far from satisfying the ambition of Francis: "I felt great frustration at the wrong salary treatment. The young engineer
then crosses the Atlantic and landed United States. Schlumberger and one year he turned in a small competitor of the giant, Pathfinder Energy Services, "renowned for its treatment of staff," said Tembiwa, looking decidedly on its payroll, which does not yet make old bones here even if there still going three years. A little record of faithfulness in his eventful career. He then spent a year at Active Zones of America (Aza) LLC, which has the ambition to expand into the African market.
Innovation
Luckily, Francis Tembiwa also wants to return to his country, but not as well paid or underpaid. In partnership with Aza Llc, he launched two years ago Afrigaz-Cameroon, whose characteristic is that it sells gas to domestic detail, without neglecting the distribution in cylinders of 12.5 kg.
The distribution of gas per kilogram is an innovative concept, already popularized in other developing countries, according to the Director-General Afrigaz Cameroon. "We are already present in six provinces of Cameroon and will soon all ten provinces. Afrigaz has the largest deployment of load-gas cylinders in Cameroon," says, still proud, Francois Tembiwa. The outlook is good, since the company has already requested in countries of the subregion of Central Africa.
But it will come from within and difficulties. "The system is resistant to change and not always encourage local initiatives," laments Tembiwa, who also believes that competition has not often been fair play. A Cameroonian market actually very competitive where half a dozen marketers share of 1.5 million bottles of cooking gas, but is far from discouraging the former resident of Yaoundé Polytec today aged 37.
